Message from Founder  -  Erika Contreras

I have been an Immunization Coordinator for nearly 15 years. I have managed many locations throughout the Central Coast of California, expanding through San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. I’ve had oversight of more than 80 medication & vaccine storage units, helping to ensure patients receive only viable medications and vaccines.

I have studied and attended hundreds of courses, lectures, conferences, seminars, and webinars. Also assisted during audits from various regulatory agencies including but not limited to the CDC, VFC, CDPH, CHDP, Cen-Cal (Medicaid), OSHA, Joint Commission and NCQA. I was also a California Board Certified Medical Assistant for many years, therefore, I understand first hand, the day to day staff challenges. I am passionate of the vaccination process and continue to learn to stay up to date on the current immunization recommendations and standards.

Founder Experience

I have implemented strategies to improve immunization rates, introduced new vaccines to medical staff, applied new recommendations, established new programs, new software, and new protocols. But all these can be challenging if staff does not have the necessary tools or understanding. Over the years, I have introduced many of these changes into FQHC Clinics, to help Nurses, Medical Assistants, and Medical Providers adapt to the new developments. I wrote numerous documents, memos, posters, stickers, acquired and prepared medication storage units, created forms, badge cheat sheets and many other tools. I have trained hundreds of health care personnel on compliance regulations & recommendations, medication & vaccine storage, injection preparation & administration, and documentation.

In other words, I have developed policies and strategies to help preserve immunization-medication quality and compliance among VFC and non-VFC Clinics. We know VFC Clinics have the strictest storage & handling requirements but there is no reason why these cannot be established to other health care settings. In my opinion it is unethical to provide poor quality storage and handling, if this means providing poor quality of medications and vaccines. My goal is to offer health systems, the tools necessary to provide safe & effective quality medications and vaccinations.
